Having been around for approximately forever, I remember when we all used strips of type and adhesive wax to manually build boards (large sheets with one spread of a book per sheet). While I sometimes miss getting my hands dirty, I am mostly pleased to report that I moved from that to QuarkXPress and from Quark to Adobe InDesign to produce files for book production. I use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to produce and edit images for all print and ebooks. I use InDesign and several other software packages to build and tweak files for standards-compliant ebooks.
